RITA - BRINGING HOPE TO SCHOOLS IN SOUTHERN TASMANIA
My name is Rita – my family emigrated from Malaysia in 2010. We are proud and blessed to be a part of the Tasmanian community. I have worked as a pharmacist for 15 years, and later as a teacher’s assistant across the north of the state prior to becoming an SU school chaplain in August 2016.
As chaplain, I have the privilege to connect and build relationships with students. I deliver different programs to help develop their resilience, social skills and emotional strength. I am actively involved in school and SU events as well as supporting school staff and the wider communities.
The work that schools chaplains do is vital in ensuring the ongoing support of young people through meeting their emotional, social and spiritual needs. They are our country’s next generation and we are responsible for providing them with our best care to ensure a bright future. Chaplaincy is incredibly rewarding and purposeful.
The work of chaplaincy will only continue with the support of the community and generous Tasmanians. Your gift will help support school chaplaincy, now and in the future!
