BEC - BRINGING HOPE TO YOUNG PEOPLE IN LONGFORD
My name is Bec, and I am the school chaplain at Longford Primary School. I’ve always been interested in the arts from sewing, writing, dance and drama. This led me from my home in WA to study, work and minister in Melbourne for a decade before gaining my Graduate Diploma in Primary Education then moving to Tasmania where I love combining my experience into caring for a school community. A lot of my work as chaplain utilises my background to nurture students’ personal growth.
Longford is a beautiful town but has many who are struggling and appreciate the support of programs that chaplaincy provides. As another safe adult in their lives, I work with students in class, small groups, and programs, offering them a listening ear as they navigate issues at this stage of life. This helps them build skills in resilience and assist with early intervention before challenges may arrive.
The aim of SU Tas is to bring hope for the future and together with generous supporters I am able to show hope at Longford Primary School by providing a loving, stable and positive influence in the school. My work is so important as I am able to help young people see their potential and encourage them to make positive choices for their lives.
The work of chaplaincy will only continue with the support of the community and generous Tasmanians. Your gift will help support my work and school chaplaincy into the future!
