JOHN - BRINGING HOPE TO YOUNG PEOPLE
I served with the Tasmania Police for over 39 years including two years with the AFP. I had worked with the principal at Brighton in youth justice and youth at risk roles, and he drew my attention to the chaplaincy role. Given I’d had a long relationship with SU through camps, I decided to apply.
In my work, I connect with students, staff, parents and the wider school community to build relationships and provide support. At Brighton I am the assistant football coach. I also manage the Breakfast Clubs at Brighton and support it in both my other schools.
The generosity of supporters allows me to spend time listening to students and helping them work through issues which are troubling them. In partnership with parents and teachers, I provide help now, and hope for the future. SU has connected with thousands of young people over the years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue that legacy.
The work of chaplaincy will only continue with the support of the community and generous Tasmanians. Your gift will help support my work and school chaplaincy into the future!
