FIONA - BRINGING HOPE TO YOUNG PEOPLE IN NEW NORFOLK
My name is Fiona, and I am the school chaplain at New Norfolk High School. Prior to my work as chaplain, I home-educated four children, was a Girl Guide leader, and actively involved in youth ministry. I have also led and continue to be a leader at SU camps throughout the state.
In my role as school chaplain, I am able to enhance student learning by providing classroom support. I am also able to support student wellbeing. I seek to encourage young people to be resilient, compassionate, well-rounded members of the community, by providing a listening ear and helping them to problem solve. The flexibility of the role of chaplain makes me uniquely positioned to come alongside young people and give them the opportunity to express how they’re feeling.
The aim of SU Tas is to help young people and their families have hope for the future. It is my desire that students will have a strong hope throughout their lives and I am helping support them at this critical age to be all they can be.
The work of chaplaincy will only continue with the support of the community and generous Tasmanians. Your gift will help support my work and school chaplaincy into the future!
