CHRISTINE - BRINGING HOPE TO SMITHTON HIGH
My name is Christine, and I am the school chaplain at Smithton High School. I have always been involved in pastoral care in our church, and enjoy supporting and encouraging others. 10 years ago I felt I was being led into chaplaincy work, and have been at Smithton High ever since.
In my role as school chaplain, I am involved with students through offering pastoral care, emotional and social support, and running programs to promote self-confidence, value and worth. Interacting with students, staff and parents as appropriate and as requested, I am helping to build a strong school community and build broader links with the local community.
The aim of SU Tas is to help young people and their families have hope for the future. As I work in partnership with other professionals and organisations, we are assisting young people in addressing issues in their lives that can stop them achieving their full potential and give them hope in the years ahead.
The work of chaplaincy will only continue with the support of the community and generous Tasmanians. Your gift will help support my work and school chaplaincy into the future!
