CHRISTINE - BRINGING HOPE TO GLEN HUON PRIMARY SCHOOL
My name is Christine, and I currently work as chaplain at Glen Huon Primary School in the beautiful Huon Valley. Prior to this role, I provided before and after care at home for my children, and have a background as a primary school teacher. I became interested in chaplaincy as I saw the great need for many of the students I taught at school.
My work as chaplain involves a number of aspects. Some of my time is spent running social/emotional support groups within classrooms, but the most valuable part is being able to listen to and connect with students at their point of need.
My work is so important as I am able to build relationships with students, helping them to develop a spiritual awareness, provide a listening ear and assist them with the issues they face in life.
The aim of SU Tas is to bring hope to young people. As a chaplain I am motivated by the love of God to help create a safe and caring space where students can be listened to, encouraged, and helped to find a valuable and worthwhile place within our world.
The work of chaplaincy will only continue with the support of the community and generous Tasmanians. Your gift will help support my work and school chaplaincy into the future!
