CHELSEA - BRINGING HOPE TO KINGS MEADOWS HIGH
My name is Chelsea and I am the school chaplain at Kings Meadows High School. Prior to this role I spent four years at university studying social work and I currently volunteer as a youth leader at my church. I believe my past experiences have given me both the skills and knowledge needed to assist young people within the school community as well as a a passion for seeing young people flourish in their lives.
Kings Meadows High School caters to a wide variety of families within the Launceston and surrounding areas. Many of the students are facing issues that may include poverty, mental illness or family issues that impact their everyday life. In my role as chaplain I work mainly one-on-one with students, helping out with activities such as games in the library, cooking classes or breakfast club. The aim is to get to know students better so I can offer students a safe place to share the issues they are facing or be a friend that they can laugh with if needed.
The aim of SU Tas is to bring hope to young people and their families. My desire as a chaplain is to encourage all students to see their worth and support students to have a hope for the future.
The work of chaplaincy will only continue with the support of the community and generous Tasmanians. Your gift will help support my work and school chaplaincy into the future!
