CALLUM - BRINGING HOPE TO KIDS AT NEW TOWN HIGH
Hi, my name is Callum and I’m the school chaplain at New Town High School. Previous to this role, I was a chaplain for three years in Darwin. Before that I worked in a school looking after boarding students from remote communities.
My role as a chaplain at New Town is to connect with the students who are struggling, either emotionally, physically or spiritually. I spend most school break times out in the playground – walking around, playing basketball, and trying to connect with young people before they need the help, as we then have a trusting relationship already established.
The aim of SU Tas is to help young people and their families have hope. Thanks to generous supporters, I am able to play an important part in helping disconnected students at New Town High feel engaged and enjoying school again. In this way we are building a positive educational experience for young people and giving them hope for the future. The work of chaplaincy will only continue with the support of the community and generous Tasmanians. Your gift will help support my work and school chaplaincy into the future!
