JACINTA - BRINGING HOPE TO YOUNG PEOPLE
My name is Jacinta, and I am the school chaplain at Montrose Bay High. Prior to these roles, I was a school chaplain in Adelaide for two years, where I worked in a primary school and a district school.
My main role is to help support the overall well-being of the school. My day-to-day work has so much variety, I’m often surprised about how God will use me. Most of the time I am helping students one-to-one, running social groups, and supporting teachers with one or more students. I also run a lunch time program.
My work is so important as I am able to move around the school and as needs arise I can help where needed. As relationships and trust grow with staff, families and students, I am often the first point of contact for mental health and am able to refer the person to an appropriate community specialist.
The aim of SU Tas is to help young people and their families have hope for the future. Thanks to generous supporters, I am able to bring hope to young people – to have someone they can talk to and trust, and to bring about positive changes in their lives.
The work of chaplaincy will only continue with the support of the community and generous Tasmanians. Your gift will help support my work and school chaplaincy into the future!
