CHRIS - BRINGING HOPE TO YOUNG PEOPLE AT PARKLANDS HIGH
My name is Chris and I’m the school chaplain at Parklands High School; providing pastoral care, student and staff support. I grew up in the Burnie area and have had many jobs over the years. I have a background in leading church youth groups which dates back to the 80s, and I am also currently a pastor in my local church. I started working as a chaplain at Parklands back in 2001, before becoming a SU worker when federal funding was implemented.
I do a lot of classroom visits, building relationships and providing general support in the classroom. I work with individuals who need extra support.
I also work with the student leadership group. Raising the bar with leaders helps to lift others up. My work is all about positive relationships. I support the staff in any way that I can to give the students the best opportunities that they can have. Thanks to my generous supporters, I can be a unique part of a team of support workers in the school who not only help deal with the issues that students face, but also demonstrate a better way to do life.
The work of chaplaincy will only continue with the support of the community and generous Tasmanians. Your gift will help support my work and school chaplaincy into the future!
