PAUL - BRINGING HOPE TO EXETER HIGH AND KINGS MEADOWS HIGH
My name is Paul Burton and I am the school chaplain at Exeter and Kings Meadows High Schools. I am both fortunate and privileged to have a practical role which benefits the school community and helps impact young lives with God’s love. In my previous role I was involved in church ministry which helps me as a chaplain through pastoral conversations and practical advice for life.
In my role as school chaplain, I work with students in small groups and one-to-one, by visiting the classroom and mentoring. I am available in times of need and work to build relationships with staff, students and parents in the school. I provide games during recess and mingle with students during lunchtimes.
Students at both schools share similar issues and stresses in their lives. I offer a listening ear as they navigate these issues and provide help in areas of healthy relationships. This helps them build skills in resilience and assists with early intervention to these challenges. This also helps them to develop healthy relational skills.
The aim of SU Tas is to bring hope for the future. Together with generous supporters I am able to show hope at both schools by providing a loving, stable and positive environment. The work of chaplaincy will only continue with the support of the community and generous Tasmanians. Your gift will help support my work and school chaplaincy into the future!
